FIELD OPERATIONS WORKER I/II

Full-time Non-Exempt, Rate of Hourly Pay: 23.77 - $40.66.
Starting pay is dependent upon qualifications.  

Position Summary Under direct supervision, performs a variety of routine to skilled work in the installation, repair and maintenance of District’s water distribution system and wastewater collection system; may obtain water and other meter readings; performs related work as required.  Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:  Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade. Field Operations Worker I: One (1) year of experience in the maintenance and repair of underground utilities or general construction. Field Operations Worker II: In addition to the above, one (1) year of experience equivalent to Field Operations Worker I at LACSD.

License requirements
are as follows: Field Operations Worker I:  Valid CA class C driver’s license with satisfactory driving record. Must obtain a Class B California driver’s license. Within 18 months of the date of entry into the position, must obtain either a Grade I Water Distribution Operator Cert OR a Grade I Collection System Maintenance. Within 24 months of the date of entry into the position, must obtain a Grade I Water Distribution Operator Cert AND a Grade I Collection System Maintenance Cert. Field Operations Worker II: Valid CA driver’s license Class B. Grade II Water Distribution Operator Cert, OR a Grade II Collection System Maintenance Cert with a Grade I Cert in the opposite certification program.

The selection process and timelines may vary by recruitment. Following a review of submitted applications, only those applicants who appear to be most qualified and meet the District’s stated requirements will be invited to participate in the selection process. The District will contact applicants selected for interviews after the specified closing date. Applicants not selected for an interview will be notified by email concerning the status of their application.

If you are selected for employment, you will be required to present proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States, as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Prior to employment, a prospective employee will be required to pass a background check and medical examination, including substance abuse screening. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of these checks.
