Engineering Technician I

$27.52/hour – $36.87/hour

Under direct supervision, performs a variety of administrative and technical engineering duties in support of the services and activities of the Engineering Department; provides maps of water and wastewater system locations, construction service availability letters, and fire flow tests to customers and/or contractors; receives, logs, and processes water and wastewater permits; updates GIS and GIS maps using collected data from new constructed facilities; keeps and maintains appropriate engineering records; assists with the design of District facilities and performs related work as required.

Education and Experience:

Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to completion of twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by college-level course work in civil engineering, drafting, or related field.  Plus, two (2) years of design and technical experience in AutoCAD and GIS in addition to experience in a public agency, including dealing with the public. A.S. Degree in a related field is desirable. Valid California class C driver’s license with satisfactory driving record. Certifications:  Grade I Water Distribution Operator Certificate issued by the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB).  Grade I Collection System Maintenance Certificate issued by the California Water Environment Association (CWEA).
