What do the monthly fixed charges pay for?
The fixed charge is the minimum amount necessary to keep the entire water and wastewater system and services available for both home use and fire protection, including all necessary maintenance and upgrades.
Why am I billed if I don’t live here full-time and/or I never use water?
We recognize that some property owners only use their homes occasionally. However, the water and wastewater systems must be continually maintained to ensure that when the home is used the systems are operational and can provide water, adequate production and storage capacities for fire protection, and are capable of accepting and treating wastewater. Failure to do so would result in inadequate water supply, fire danger, collection system spills and wastewater treatment plant overflows.
Do I have to pay the tiered rates if I had a leak?
All water that has passed through your water meter must be paid for according to the current rate structure. However, the District allows a one-time 50% waiver of the water portion of your bill (less the minimum water meter charge and not including sewer charges), when you install a Customer Shutoff Valve. This can be installed on the customer’s side adjacent to the water meter on the service line.
What options are available for high consumption bills?
Payment arrangements can be made by calling a customer service representative at (909) 336-7100 during normal business hours from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The District also allows a one-time 50% waiver of the water portion of your bill (less the minimum water meter charge and not including sewer charges), when you install a Customer Shutoff Valve. This can be installed on the customer’s side adjacent to the water meter on the service line.
Where do we get our water?
Customers in Arrowhead Woods receive water from Lake Arrowhead, groundwater wells and imported State Water Project water through a 10-15 year agreement between the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District and Crestline-Lake Arrowhead Water Agency. Deer Lodge Park customers receive their water from their own groundwater wells and the Crestline-Lake Arrowhead Water Agency. Rimforest receives their water from Crestline-Lake Arrowhead Water Agency.
How many gallons of water do we use a day?
The American Water Works Association (AWWA) says a typical household uses about 74 gallons per person per day indoors. Outdoor use is 50% to 70% of most households’ total use. They encourage households to strive for 60 gallons per person per day, or better.
So a four person household would use 296 gallons/day indoors and at least 296 gallons/day outdoors—a total of 592 gallons. Water conserving households can save 25%-35% or 148-207 gallons/day.
